FASHION and LAW Course: Understanding legal issues surrounding the life of a garment from inception to brand protection

The Department of Law, Economics and Cultures of the University of Insubria and the Istituto Marangoni decided to organize the master course on “FASHION AND LAW” 1st edition following the great success of a specialization course held in Como throughout academic year 2013-2014.

This master program is the first master ever organized in Italy on fashion law, by addressing all multiple legal areas that significantly impact on the fashion

business: contract law, intellectual property law, protection against counterfeiting, protection of the Made in Italy, corporate operations and stock exchange quotations, opening of new shops, customs law, advertising law, fashion manufacturing and related issues of environmental protection.

The collaboration with the Marangoni Institute plays also a strategic role in this particular field, due to the excellent reputation that Marangoni Institute   enjoys since 1935 when Giulio Marangoni founded in Milan the Istituto Artistico dell’Abbigliamento Marangoni, a school for the formation of highly specialized professionals and technicians in the field of fashion.

Over the past years the Marangoni Institute has opened new campus all over the world increasing, by so doing, its international reputation. Branches were established in London in 2002, in Paris in 2004 and more recently, in 2012, also in Shanghai. Master classes will be held, for the most part, in the Milan premises of the Marangoni Institute, in Via Pietro Verri within the well - known fashion area of the city, the so called "quadrilateral of fashion".

Classes will be taught in English with simultaneous  translation in Italian when needed, and open to students from all over the world. The program also includes seminars, in particular related to the world of fashion and cinema, that will be held at the Department of Law, Economics and Cultures in Como.

The Master course is addressed to students graduated in law, economics or marketing, both Italian and foreigners willing to develop their professional activity in the fashion industry.
