Green Boots is a Portuguese brand that produces boots from recycled tyres and biodegradable materials, such as cork, under a process called goodyear welt which guarantees the resistance and durability of this footwear. Designed by Pedro Olaio, the Green Boots are inspired by the Portuguese workers' boots from the 1950s, made by a family company founded in Leiria in 1955 by the shoemaker José Rodrigues Serrazina. These ecological boots are still made at this company under the artisanal process. The article “Green Boots: The Sustainable Reinvention of Traditional Product and Enterprise” aims to analyse the importance of the sustainable reinvention of the workers' boots and its associated industry towards the protection of the environment and human health.
