Mary Katrantzou is a Greek designer, based in London, who applies her background in architecture and textile design into iconic ready-to-wear. By using her long time interest in the relationship between printed textiles and the female figure, Mary Katrantzou is developing, through fashion design and supported digital technology, a new language of possibilities. The article “Mary Katrantzou: The Importance of Symbolic and Typographical Artistic Expression within Copyright Protection” aims to analyse the designer’s work in order to demonstrate that it is possible to compare art to some fashion designs and as a consequence to protect these designs by using copyright.
